For the start of our third and final year of our visual communication course we were eased in with some much need confidence boosters. To see how each class member was feeling about the start of the new year we were told to get in to groups and create two mind maps, one of them about our worries and apprehensions and the other about hopes and ambitions. Once our mind maps were complete, each group then went on to display them, where we would then look through them along with our tutor and discuss our points. After finishing the discussion we then went back to our worries and apprehensions mind maps and circled the points that we now felt less worried about, thanks to to the group discussion. Overall this small workshop was just what I needed to help prepare and motivate myself for the year ahead, I am in a much better frame of mind because of it and I look forward to getting stuck in.
I feel that this project has been one of my most successful ones, as it was a personal project I produced work I am more proud of and therefore enjoyed it a lot more. However there are a few things I would have done better, and by missing a few weeks off these made me behind on choosing my project idea. I feel if I had the idea earlier on things would have progressed easier. And maybe the final pieces could have been foil embossed as I had originally planned to do, but time management was a little short to the end and the final tweaks were still taking place at the time I should have sent them off to be foil embossed.
The research into this project intrigued me and also educated me more into the topic, this will hopefully help me with other clients in the future and help with similar projects, as I feel after doing this project it could be something that I am interesting in carrying on. Also my research helped to develop my ideas into more contemporary design, this producing final pieces that both the clients and guest scan enjoy.
